Electric Cigarette Users In The Philippines Will Be Arrested By Police
MANILA - Philippine law enforcement will arrest people who use and import e-cigarettes. It was an order from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Tuesday, November 19.
This policy was taken after a number of countries banned the same thing. This ban on the use of e-cigarettes arises because of the many cases of death and addiction as a result.
Reporting from Antara, Wednesday, November 20, Duterte announced the policy at a press conference regarding the Ministry of Health's report on lung injury cases related to the use of e-cigarettes in the country.
"I will ban it. Use and import. You know why? Because it is poisonous and the government has the power to take measures to protect public health and the public interest," said Duterte, who also bans smoking in public places.
Duterte used to smoke heavily and quit after being diagnosed with a disease that can cause blockages in blood tissue.
Various groups considered that the ban could hinder plans for business expansion by e-cigarette manufacturers such as Juul Labs, which have launched their products in international markets, including the Philippines.
Launching various sources, electric cigarettes have many dangers. Even though they don't contain tobacco, research states that e-cigarettes contain more nicotine. Below we attach a number of dangers to e-cigarettes
Damage to the heart
The high nicotine content in e-cigarettes can cause health problems such as people who smoke tobacco, which is damaging to heart health.
According to Michael Fiore, MD, director of the tobacco research center at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, nicotine can make the heart beat faster than normal. This has the potential to cause high blood pressure.
In the journal American Stroke Associations International Stroke disclosed, people who use e-cigarettes have a 59 percent risk of heart attack and a 40 percent higher risk of heart disease.
Damage to the eyes and respiratory tract
In a 2015 study by researchers at Portland State University, the heating process of propylene glycol and gluserol (two common ingredients in e-cigarette liquid) can result in the release of formaldehyde.
According to the American Cancer Society, the formaldehyde found in e-cigarettes can irritate the eyes, throat and nose. The nicotine found in e-cigarettes can also cause nausea, dizziness and vomiting, especially in new users.
E-cigarettes also increase the risk of inflammation in the lungs and reduce the ability of protective tissue to protect organs. These e-cigarettes can also cause bronchiolitis obliterans, or popcorn lung, to develop.
Causing addiction
Launching The Healthy, nicotine in e-cigarettes also causes the release of dopamine throughout the body and makes addiction, resulting in an addictive effect.
