Police 'Kiss' Pilkada Dispute As The Motive For Burning The House Of The Chairperson Of KPU Yahukimo, Papua
JAKARTA - The case of burning the house of the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Yahukimo, Papua, Yesaya Mangayang is still being investigated by officers. According to provisional information, the perpetrators' brutal action was triggered by the election results that were determined by the KPU on Saturday, January 23.
Yahukimo Police Chief AKBP Denny Hendriana said, from the reports received, the house was not completely burned down. The perpetrator only targeted the rooms and houses located in the teacher's dormitory, which had not been occupied for 2 months.
"There were no casualties," said Denny as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 25.
From the testimony of witnesses, before the incident occurred there were about 20 people who were transported by trucks to the TKP. From the truck, 6 people got off and carried out the arson.
It is suspected that the perpetrator is a supporter of the (incumbent) candidate pair who lost the election yesterday. However, said Denny, to be more sure, the case will continue to be investigated.
Still from the witness testimony, after burning the house of the KPU chairman, the perpetrator fled to the mountains. It is recorded that four witnesses have been questioned and currently members are making an approach so that the witnesses are willing to give their testimony.
