Kodam Pattimura Destroys Thousands Of Explosives Ammunitions Heavily Damaged
AMBON - Kodam XVI/Pattimura, through the Paldam XVI/Pattimura, destroyed explosives ammunition (Muhandak) in Banda Village, Suli Village, Central Maluku, Maluku.
"The destruction of explosives ammunition amounted to 479,786 people. Among them, 474,252 were Small Caliber Ammunition (MKK)," said Head of Pendam XVI Pattimura Lt. Col. Arh Agung Sinaring as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 9.
Small Kaliber Ammunition itself is a dense projectile made of metal fired from weapons. Ammunition consists of five parts, namely projectiles (timbals), keloss (brass), propellants, rims and primaries.
Meanwhile, the Large Caliber Ammunition (MKB) which was issued amounted to 208 special rounds and special ammunition (Musus) as many as 5,326. This MAhandak is an inventory of the Indonesian Army which has the status of heavily damaged.
Kapendam said the destruction was carried out so that the ammunition was not misused by irresponsible parties.
"We don't want this misuse of ammunition by irresponsible parties, so it must be destroyed," he said.
The method used in the extermination activity was burning for Small Kalibar Ammunition, while Large Caliber Ammunition and special Ammunition were destroyed using an explosive method.
