The U-20 World Cup Budget Is Still Frozen, Commission X Of The DPR Asks The Ministry Of Youth And Sports To Communicate With The Ministry Of Finance
JAKARTA - Commission X of the DPR asked the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) to communicate with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) regarding the U-20 World Cup budget funds that were canceled in Indonesia.
Chairman of Commission X DPR Syaiful Huda said the budget for the U-20 World Cup was still frozen by the Ministry of Finance. This was also discussed in a meeting between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Commission X at the Nusantara I Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 31, yesterday.
"We are waiting for the readiness of friends from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to communicate first with the Ministry of Finance so that later the budget allocation will be clearer, because this budget is still frozen. So we ask that it be opened first by the Ministry of Finance and then we will discuss what it is intended for," said Syaiful Huda, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 1.
Syaiful Huda also added that the budget that has been launched for the U-20 World Cup also has the potential to be disbursed. It depends on the next budget allocation.
"So it has not been opened, the budget is still a marked budget. So it is not necessarily disbursed. Therefore, we ask the Ministry of Youth and Sports to communicate first with the Ministry of Finance to ensure that the budget can be disbursed and then discussed later," said Syaiful Huda.
Syaiful Huda also said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports's budget for 2024, although it has increased compared to 2023, is still too small because there are many international agendas and events that will be followed by the Indonesian contingent in the future, such as the 2024 Aceh National Sports Week-North Sumatra and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"There is still a lack (of the 2024 budget), therefore we asked the Minister to lobby again with the Ministry of Finance, so that there can be additional until later it is determined to be a definitive ceiling. This is still an indicative ceiling, later the potential to change is still quite high," said the politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB).
Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives has allocated an indicative ceiling budget of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2024 of IDR 2.19 trillion. This value is up from the Ministry of Youth and Sports's budget in 2023 which received a budget of IDR 1.6 trillion.
