Jokowi Announces Design Of 'Hayat Tree' Becomes IKN Nusantara Logo

JAKARTA - Design with the theme 'tree of life' was chosen as the logo of the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago. The election was based on the results of a competition announced by President Joko Widodo at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 30.

"The selected logo has the theme of a life tree, which was designed by Mas Aulia Akbar," said Jokowi when announcing the results of the competition.

The logo has details in the form of five roots at the bottom representing Pancasila, seven sticks in the middle representing seven large islands within Indonesia, and 17 petals at the top representing independence dates.

President Jokowi hopes that the tree-themed logo will inspire IKN Nusantara to create a new place of life as well as a symbol of life for all Indonesian people in the future.

The President also assessed that the logo of the life tree has a philosophy in line with the development of IKN Nusantara.

"Growing a sense of pride in the identity of the nation as a big country, a great nation, a pluralistic nation, and raising public awareness to protect nature, the environment, and its ecosystem," said Jokowi.

The President also emphasized that the logo chosen to strengthen joint efforts to contribute to the acceleration of the development of IKN Nusantara.

Previously, the Head of the Nusantara IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono, explained that the IKN Nusantara logo competition had withdrawn the submission of more than 500 designers who were then screened by the curator team from the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI).

The curator team then invited 10 designers to present the meaning of their logo, which President Jokowi chose five to decide through a poll of residents.

The poll of residents was conducted during April 4-20 May 2023 and collected at least 500,260 voters for the IKN Nusantara logo.

"The winning logo received 133,069 votes or about 26.6 percent," said Bambang.

Aulia Akbar is known to be one of the founders of the POT Branding House design house and as the winner is entitled to a prize money of IDR 185 million.
