As A Result Of The Demo, Hundreds Of Motorcyclists Control Road Sidewalks In Medan Merdeka Utara

JAKARTA - A number of two-wheeled vehicles were desperate to break through and cross the sidewalk along Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Gambir District, Central Jakarta on Thursday, May 25.

The motorists were desperate to cross the sidewalks because of the road closure on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. A number of motorcyclists broke through each other's sidewalks in order to avoid congestion on the highway.

A number of vehicles crossing the sidewalk only came down leaving the pedestrian sidewalk after at the T-junction to Majapahit Street.

As of 12.20 WIB, the density of vehicles is still happening. As is known, the impact of the closure caused traffic jams due to student demonstrations in the Monas Horse Statue area.

Gambir Metro Police Chief Kompol Mugia Yarry Junanda confirmed the demonstration in the horse statue area.

"It's true, there are student elements (conducting) the 25th anniversary of reform," he said when contacted by reporters, Thursday, May 25.

Kompol Mugia appealed to residents to take other routes to avoid congestion.

"The Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Timur, Utara and Jalan Veterans can still be passed," he said.
