Overcoming Traffic Jams On The Bogor Peak Route, Ministry Of Transportation Reviews The Construction Of Trains
CIANJUR - Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) conducted a study on the construction of a cable car as a solution to overcome congestion on the main Puncak route, which includes Bogor Regency and Cianjur Regency, West Java.
Head of the Transportation Policy Agency (Baketrans) of the Ministry of Transportation, Gunung Hutapea, said that previously his party had conducted a number of studies related to solutions to overcome traffic jams on the Puncak route that occur every day, especially during weekends.
"We are coordinating with other ministries including Commission V of the DPR to convey congestion solutions on the Puncak route and the cable car, one of the solutions that we have conveyed and received a fairly good response," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.
The study, said Gunung, would be further finalized with the Ministry of PUPR and the Ministry of Finance regarding the budget needed to build a cable car, which is located in the Bogor and Cianjur areas.
Not only the cable car, but his party also proposes other solutions to overcome traffic jams on the main Puncak route, such as widening roads, structuring intersections, building freeways or the Jagorawi-Caringin Toll Road through Gunung Mas.
"Cianjur is one of the economic centers in West Java, which is visited by many residents, especially tourists from the Greater Jakarta area, because of the many tourist destinations contained in it, so the solution to traffic jams in the Cianjur area must be decided immediately," he said.
A number of these proposals, said Gunung, have been carried out in a transportation study from the fields of facilities, infrastructure and safety.

According to him, his party will collaborate with a number of relevant stakeholders and provide recommendations to the Minister of Transportation to optimize traffic on the Puncak route.
"Baketrans will provide the most appropriate recommendations and will be evaluated in the future, currently what will be evaluated is the route from Bogor to Puncak-Cianjur. After reviewing several alternatives including cable trains, later the Baketrans, PUPR, and Commission V DPR teams will discuss in more detail," he said.
Meanwhile, Member of Commission V DPR from the Cianjur-Bogor electoral district, Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa Hiz said the solution to congestion on the Puncak route which can be another consideration is to add infrastructure to unravel congestion and add road networks connected to national roads.
"And what will be discussed further is the use of cable trains to reduce the volume of vehicles," he said.
Commission V of the DPR fully supports the steps taken by the government in improving safety in the Puncak-Cianjur region, and appreciates what the Baketrans has done because the recommended policy is quite optimal.
