BMKG Says 6 Islands In NTT Have A Chance To Flood Rob
BMKG Calls 6 islands in NTT Opportunity RobKUPANG Flood - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to residents to be aware of the potential for flooding in coastal areas (rob) that could hit the coastal six islands in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) over the next few days. "Be aware of the tidal phenomenon has the opportunity to hit the coastal six islands in NTT, namely the coastal Sumba, Sabu, Raijua, Rote, Timor, and the southern coast of Flores," said Acting Head of the Tenau Maritime Meteorological Station Kupang BMKG Agung Sudiono Abadi quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 19. He conveyed this related to early warnings of coastal flooding (rob) in the NTT region which is valid for 20-21 May. Agung explained that the tidal phenomenon is likely to occur due to the phenomenon of the New Moon Phase which has the potential to increase the maximum maximum sea tide height. In addition, it increases the potential of high waves and strong winds that can affect coastal dynamics in the NTT region. Therefore, he said, residents who live on the coast of the islands in order to increase their preparedness for tidal phenomena that could result in residential areas flooded with sea water. In addition, disruption of activities around ports and coastal, salt farmers' activities, land fisheries, as well as loading and unloading activities at ports.
