'Aisyiyah, Who Has Been More Than 1 Century Old, Will Give Birth To A Great Female Figure'
JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, congratulated the 106th Anniversary to the Aisyiyah organization. Puan said, this Muhammadiyah women's organization will give birth to women who will become national leaders.
Puan's statement was delivered virtually through a testimonial video broadcast at the peak of the 106th Anniversary at Ahmad Dahlan University, Yogyakarta, Friday, May 19.
In this year's anniversary, Aisyiyah raised the theme 'Women's Leadership Brightens National Civilization'.
"I pray that at the age of more than 1 century, Aisyiyah will continue to be the leading female organization of Muhammadiyah which gave birth to great women who are candidates for national leaders who will continue to care for, maintain and guard the ideals of the Proclamation country on August 17, 1945," said Puan.
Aisyiyah is a Muhammadiyah women's movement that was founded on May 19, 1917. The embrio of the founding of Aisyiyah has started since the Sapa Tresna association in 1914, which is an educational girl association around Kauman, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).
Puan, who is also the grandson of Bung Karno and Mrs. Fatmawati, has a harmonious view of the role of women who are very important to the continuity of the nation's future. In fact, she encouraged Indonesian women to play a role in every interest of the nation and state.
"As grandchildren of Bung Karno and Mrs. Fatmawati who are also Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah figures, I am ready to work together and work hand in hand with all the leaders of Aisyiyah and Muhammdiyah, to continue to serve the nation and state for the sake of achieving our ideals and goals of the state," he said.
"That is the achievement of welfare and social justice for all Indonesian people," added Puan.
The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also hopes that the Aisyiyah organization will continue to grow in line with the times. Puan also asked Aisyiyah to use women as drivers of the values of national unity in accordance with Pancasila's mandate.
Because Pancasila has not only united the nation but also served as a guide when the Indonesian people face the challenge of testing data. For this reason, Puan revealed the role of women in maintaining and guarding Pancasila as the basis of the Indonesian state.

For information, the name Aisyiyah was inspired by the wife of the Prophet Muhammad, namely Aisyah, who is known to be smart and capable. If Muhammadiyah means Muhammad's followers, then Aisyiyah means Aisyah's followers.
