Ministry Of Religion Immediately Formulate Additional Utilization Of Hajj Quota

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas stated that his party would immediately formulate the use of an additional 8,000 hajj quota so that it could be optimally absorbed.

"Give us the opportunity to formulate these 8,000 additional quotas, how to use them and for whom? For yesterday's regular ones, it was already, including for the priority of the elderly," said the Minister of Religion in a working meeting with Commission VIII DPR in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.

Indonesia received an additional quota from the Government of Saudi Arabia of 8,000 people. This additional quota has been included in the Saudi Arabia e-Hajj application system as of May 15, 2023.

In a joint working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR, they agreed to this additional quota and asked that it be optimized in order to reduce the queue time.

"Thank you for the additional approval of this 8,000 quota. Because, our meeting today is about that. We will concentrate on 8,000 additional quotas," said the Minister of Religion.

The Minister of Religion is committed to optimizing this additional quota. According to him, the additional 8,000 quotas were also obtained not without effort. The Ministry of Religion continues to strive through dynamics that take time and thought.

"We will work hard so that the additional quota is also optimally absorbed, including the Hajj officers, although only 300 people can work optimally in serving the congregation," said the Minister of Religion.

Meanwhile, regarding the proposal for an additional hajj quota, it should be intended for the elderly hajj companion, the Minister of Religion said that all proposals would be accommodated and then the best decision would be sought.

"There are proposals, among others, for the elderly companion. We accommodate all the proposals. We will check in the field, because it also depends on the conditions in the field," he said.
