A Loud Explosion Rocked The City Of Madrid, One Building Collapsed

JAKARTA - One building collapsed in an explosion in the middle of Madrid with smoke coming out of the building and rescue workers evacuating the elderly from a nearby nursing home.

A reporter for the public broadcaster TVE said several were injured, without providing details. A witness told broadcaster Telemadrid that at least one person was trapped inside, as reported by Reuters.

La Sexta TV quoted government sources as saying it may have been a gas leak. Officials could not immediately confirm.

Two witnesses also told that they heard a loud explosion. Smog was seen in the neighborhood after the explosion, witnesses reported.

Emergency services could not immediately confirm what had happened.
