National Police Hospital Successfully Identified 3 Passengers Of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 Through DNA

JAKARTA - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team again identified the three passengers of the Sriwijaya Air plane. So that the total passengers who have been identified have reached 43 people.

"Today, three bodies have been identified," Head of the National Police Hospital, Brigadier General Asep Hendradiana, told a press conference at the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Wednesday, January 20.

The bodies of the three passengers were successfully identified by the DVI Team using DNA collected from the family. However, the three victims identified were Yulian Andhika, Ratih Windania and Theofilius Ura.

As previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport on Saturday, January 9, 2020.

Furthermore, the authorities provide certainty if the plane crashed around Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands.

In total, the plane carried 62 people, including 12 crew members and 50 passengers consisting of 40 adult passengers, seven children and three babies.

There was also a search operation on the fuselage, including the search for parts of the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and the bodies of the passengers were decided to be extended for three days.
