Case Of Smuggling 264 Kilograms Of Liquid Methamphetamine, New Mode Of Gasoline Mix
JAKARTA - A joint team from the Directorate of Drug Crimes, the Jambi Regional Police, and the Banten Police, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 264.73 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine. The mode mixes with gasoline.
"By mixing with gasoline, it seems to trick the officers that this is gasoline," said the Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa to reporters, Thursday, May 11.
The smuggling was carried out by a foreign citizen (WNA) from Iran with the initials NB bin MS who is now a suspect. He put the liquid methamphetamine into 5 large jerry cans with a capacity of 50 to 60 kilograms.
Gasoline is chosen as a mixture in the smuggling mode because it has a strong aroma. So, no one will notice if there is methamphetamine looking for it in the jerry can.
"Mixed is not just the whole thing, it's just a little bit, so it smells like gasoline, it's just camouflage," he said.
According to Mukti, the mode used by the suspect is relatively new. However, with the foresight of the members in any way used by the perpetrators of the crime, it can still be dismantled.
"After being tested by the lab by our side, it turns out that this contains 264.73 kg of liquid methamphetamine. If this is made crystalline or processed, it will be 750 kg. Almost close to 1 tonne," he said.
On the other hand, it is emphasized that development is currently being carried out. The investigative team is looking for the person who received the liquid methamphetamine.
"(Recipients) have been identified," said Mukti.
