Idol Kurt Cobain, Brazilian Rock Queen Rita Lee Dies
JAKARTA - Rita Lee, a singer known as Brazil's "Queen Of Rock" and original rock band Os Mutantes, died at the age of 75.
Lee passed away on May 9, as confirmed by his family in a post on his official Instagram page.
"We are communicating Rita Lee's death, at her residence in the capital Srypto Paulo, at the end of the night, surrounded by all her family's love, as she always wanted," a statement posted on her official Instagram account reads in Portuguese.
"Queen Of Rock" was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021. She won seven Latin Grammys and was recognized with the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in November.

Known as one of Brazil's most successful songwriters, Lee started his career in the Os Mutantes group which is considered one of Brazil's most influential rock bands.
His album, Fruto Proibido (Unforbidden Fruit) with the band Tutti Frutti is considered a Brazilian classical music.
Lee's musical career lasted more than 50 years. He has fans around the world including Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and King Charles. After announcing his death, awards for the "Queen Of Rock" came in a flood.
