In Liechtenstein, Bitcoin Can Make Pay For Public Services

JAKARTA - The government of Liechtenstein plans to open a payment option using Bitcoin (BTC) for some public services. This was announced by Liechtenstein Prime Minister Daniel Risk, in an interview with German media, Handelsblatt.

Although the timing of the implementation of this plan has not been explained in detail, Risk said that "the Bitcoin payment option will be coming soon". However, the government plans to immediately exchange Bitcoin into a Swiss franc after accepting payments.

In addition, Risko also stated that Liechtenstein is open to investing in the cryptocurrency world, but he also insists that BTC is still considered a high-risk investment for the country.

"The use of crypto assets like Bitcoin is currently still too risky... But this assessment can change," said PM Daniel Risk.

As a country that has issued clear cryptocurrency-related regulations in 2019, Liechtenstein has continued to be committed to developing this technology. Many cryptocurrency businesses, including the Liechtenstein Cryptoassets Exchange (LCX), centered at Zug's "Crypto Valley," which also opened an office in Liechtenstein.

Liechtenstein's commitment to cryptocurrency technology is getting stronger with partnerships with Swiss companies such as Sygnum, leading banks focused on cryptocurrencies, and Metaco, a digital infrastructure provider that helps the country in providing crypto asset storage services to its clients.

By opening a Bitcoin payment option for public services, Liechtenstein hopes to strengthen his position as a cryptocurrency-friendly country and at the same time strengthen the banking sector in his country.
