The Deactivation Of The ID Card Of Jakarta Residents Living Outside The Region Is Valid March 2024

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) will disable the Population Identification Number (NIK) of DKI residents who live outside Jakarta in March 2024.

"The temporary deactivator of the NIK, what will be the impact? When conducting transactions such as banking, Samsat, paying taxes, paying BPJS later there will be a kind of notification that you have to go to the Dukcapil Service so that's the case," said Head of the DKI Dukcapil Office Budi Awaluddin at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta. reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 4.

Budi said that what would be deactivated was not the status of the residents, but the population identification number (NIK) listed on the DKI ID card concerned but no longer domiciled in Jakarta.

Even though the ID card ID card is deactivated, said Budi, the residents' data will still be stored. Residents must contact Dukcapil if they want to reactivate their NIK.

"Actually, turning it off still exists (resident data), but when they use their ID cards for BPJS, for banking services, Samsat, the data is not visible, so they have to contact Dukcapil," said Budi.

Previously, Budi explained, the policy of deactivating the KTP for residents who do not live in Jakarta is not related to the plan to move the State Capital (IKN) in 2024.

"This is an effort to regulate population administration where residents with DKI Jakarta ID cards must 'de facto' live in the DKI Jakarta area," said Budi.

Controlling population administration (adminduk) so that the provision of social assistance to residents can be more targeted and accurate.

"The current population density is out of control which has an impact on social problems, especially in the education, health, transportation, unemployment/enforcement and the environment sector," said Budi.

For residents who still have a DKI Jakarta ID card but are no longer domiciled in DKI Jakarta, his party appealed to immediately report to the Dukcapil counter at the village level so that the transfer is immediately processed according to their domicile address.
