Minister Of Religion Condemns Shooting Action At MUI Office

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas criticized the shooting that took place at the Central Jakarta Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Office on Tuesday, May 2. "I strongly condemn any acts of violence, including the shooting that occurred at the MUI Office," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 2. Minister of Religion emphasized that acts of violence cannot be justified, whatever the motive and purpose. He also appreciated the speed of the police officers in identifying the shooter who occurred at 11.24 WIB at the Central MUI Office. The shooting incident that occurred at the MUI Office caused a broken glass and resulted in a reception officer and security officers being injured. "I heard that the perpetrator died. I believe the Police are professional," said the Minister of Religion. According to the Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Kombes Pol Komarudin, the shooter at the Central MUI Office, a man aged about 60 years. "The identity of the perpetrator is already there. The initials M, with the age of about 60. KTP domicile Lampung," he said.

Komarudin said that the perpetrator's body had been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for an autopsy. "Currently he wants to be autopsied, then from there it will be discovered the cause of death, because it was also found in his bag items such as medicines, account books, and several letters," he said.
