Consistency, Strength And Courage: 60 Years Of Lamborghini Realizing Ferruccio's Dream
JAKARTA - This year is the celebration of Lamborghini's 60th birthday which is an important momentum for Lamborghini to reflect on his journey. This birth also coincided with the prototype of the first 350 GTV Lamborghini vehicle launched.
Everything started from a dream in 1963, when Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to build his factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese: Lamborghini's Automobile. History after history, supercar after supercar, 60 years have passed. 60 years we call our history journey, tweeted Lamborghini's official Twitter account, Tuesday, April 4.
The choice of the logo is interesting, the image of the bull rising gold in its logo also has a meaning. Ferruccio Lamborghini believes that the gold color represents consistency, strength, and courage. So that's the meaning of the golden bull rising on the Lamborghini logo
Since the beginning Lamborghini has focused on the combined expertise of its workers with the use of advanced technology machines, a value that hasn't changed for years.
Ahead of the 60th celebration, Automobile Lamborghini continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability and the environment. Lamborghini has shown leadership in the development and production of high-performance composite materials for supermobils, as well as initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the company's entire chain.
In May 2021, for example, Automobile CEO and Chairman Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, announced the "Cor Tauri Management" program which aims to turn the entire ranks of Lamborghini products into electric cars by 2023-2024, with the launch of a fully electric model by the end of the decade.
Electrification measures are a major step in the company's decarbonization program, as part of their holistic approach to sustainability strategies, with the aim of continuing to reduce the impact not only on production sites, but also across the company's value chains.
Once there was a motorcycle division
Many do not know that Lamborghini once had a motorcycle division. In the early 80s, a reorganization triggered by bankruptcy saw the elimination of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini and the acquisition of the company by Mimran Brothers Lamborghini tried desperately to survive.
After the bankruptcy disaster, the new owner looks for ways to increase revenue and restore the company's beautiful past. Finally Patrick Mimran decided to use the name Lamborghini in other things besides the car, namely for motorcycles.
The motorcycle is called Design 90s and not much made, assembled in 1989 with a total of only 6 units as an initial stage. Not even made in Italy, but in France, by Boxer Bikes in Toulouse.
This Lamborghini motorbike uses a Kawasaki 1000cc engine capable of generating 130 Hp. And weighing only 180 kg, very fast compared to other motorcycles at that time, with the highest speed of about 257 km/hour.
Unfortunately, because the price was very expensive at that time worth 13 thousand US dollars in 1986, the motorbike did not receive a good response from the market, and the Design 90s never managed to enter mass production.
Once owned by conglomerate Indonesia
In January 1994, Lamborghini was officially purchased from Chrysler by the son of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia Suharto, namely Hutomo Mandala Putra alias Tommy Suharto along with Indonesian conglomerate Setiawan Djody.
Reportedly at the time, Tommy poured US$40 million to buy Lamborghini.
Unfortunately, due to the monetary crisis that hit Indonesia, in 1998 Lamborghini was sold again to Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group.
