Confident Telegram Boss, The Platform Is Safe To Use World Leaders

JAKARTA - Telegram CEO Pavel Durom said that a number of world leaders have started to open their official channels on their platforms. Two of them are Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

"Since my last post, the massive influx of new users to Telegram has been accelerating. We are probably witnessing the largest digital migration in human history," Durov wrote on his personal channel on Telegram.

According to him, the world leaders opened channels on Telegram because of the impact of WhatsApp's new policy. Durov confirmed, Erdogan and Bolsonaro will have a verified account in the user search list on Telegram.

"Following this global phenomenon, two presidents started their Telegram channels: Brazilian President @jairbolsonarobrasil and Turkish President @RTErdogan," he continued.

Durov said that Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan joined the list of other heads of state who had already attended Telegram, they were:

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador @PresidenteAMLO

French President Emmanuel Macron @emmanuelmacron

Prime Minister of Singapore Lee HsienLoong @leehsienloong

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky @V_Zelenskiy_official

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev @shmirziyoyev

President of Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen @iingtw

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed @AbiyAhmedAliofficial

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu @bnetanyahu.

Furthermore, Durov admitted that he was very honored by the decision of political leaders to the point that many public organizations used Telegram. He claims Telegram can be counted on to combat misinformation and spread awareness about important issues in their society.

Unlike other networks, Durov claims Telegram does not use a non-transparent algorithm to decide whether subscribers will see their subscribed content or not.

"We are honored that political leaders, as well as many public organizations, rely on Telegram to combat misinformation and spread awareness about important issues in their society," said Durov.

Previously, Durov said that Telegram active users had reached more than 500 million. As many as 25 million users are claimed to have joined in just 72 hours.

The significant increase in the number of Telegram users cannot be separated from the influence of WhatsApp's new privacy policy. In addition to collecting users' personal data, the new policy could make user data owned and used by Facebook.
