Mamuju And Majene Earthquakes, 872 People Become Victims

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded 872 victims of the earthquake in Mamuju and Majene Districts. Although, most of the victims only suffered injuries.

"46 people died and 826 were injured," said the Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Raditya Jati in his statement, Saturday, January 16.

Raditya explained that there were 226 victims in Mamuju Regency. Hundreds of victims consisted of 37 people died and 189 people were seriously injured. For evacuation locations in Mamuju Regency, there are 5 points, precisely in Mamuju District and Simboro District.

Meanwhile, in Majene Regency, 646 people were recorded as victims. In fact, as a result of the earthquake as many as 15 thousand people were forced to flee.

"Nine people died in Majene, 12 were seriously injured, approximately 200 were moderately injured, and about 425 people were slightly injured," he said.
