D'Cinnamons Releases Love Through Kunang-Kunang

JAKARTA - Bandung's pop unit, D'Cinnamons released a new single titled Kunang-Kunang on April 10, today.

"Indeed, falling in love with someone, makes us float when we are nearby. This single is made for those who feel a'short' love in the lonely heart, made with the spirit of beauty of love," said vocalist/guitarist, Diana 'Dodo' Widoera in a written statement received by the editor.

'It feels like a dream! This is what it feels like when we are in love. Angan feels like flying, like a firefly that comes when the night comes. Of course we don't want this feeling of falling in love just for a moment or just a dream. Hope in finding a true lover, is depicted in this song Kunang-Kunang, added Ismail Bonavantura.

This song-making session starts this year. However, the idea of the song has been written by Bona since 2017.

This song opens with the sound of a bell and a clockenspiel that represents a light and dreamy atmosphere. With submissions in the form of beats that tend to be fast, representing a strong heart rate when looking at the eyes of his lover.

"It is hoped that this song can describe the image of falling in love with every individual who listens to it," said Bona.

Different from the previous songs, Kunang-Kunang provided a technical challenge when undergoing the recording process. Especially at the opening of the song which applies vocal harmonies Dodo, Bona, and bassist Riana Nana Mayasari in akapela format

The challenge during the recording of the acapella session made all personnel have to sing. Of course, it will also be challenging for the live performance session later. The addition of the acapela part at the opening of the song is something new for us, and makes the song more unique, "explained Nana.

In addition, this song also has a different range of vocal notes from the previous songs. Because Bona wrote her song on a range that is different from Dodo's vocal range.

It doesn't stop there, what makes this song unusual is the song in the bass instrument filling process. Nana, who usually relies on acoustic bass, this time uses a semi hollow bass so that it gives rise to different characteristics than the previous single-single D'Cinnamons.

Meanwhile, Dodo, Bona and Nana recorded Kunang-Kunang in a home studio, and without obstacles means from a technical point of view. Dodo vocals were even recorded only with the SM57 dynamic Shure microphone arranged in such a way as not to eliminate the desired taste.
