JAKARTA - Men's doubles Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri are the only Indonesian representatives to reach the final round of the 2023 Super 300 Orleans Masters BWF tournament, Sunday, April 9.
The pair nicknamed Bakri advanced to the top party after winning the "brotherly war" against second seed Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin in the last four.
Previously, the Red and White Squad had five representatives in the semifinals of the Orleans Masters consisting of the men's doubles Bagas/Fikri and Leo/Daniel, mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Adnan Maulana/Nita Violina Marwah, as well as women's doubles Ribka Sugiarto/Lanny Tria Mayasari.
However, only Bagas/Fikri left to advance to the final after winning over Leo/Daniel through the rubber game with a score of 13-21, 21-18, 23-21.
Bagas/Fikri appeared convincing in the last two games after being left behind in the first game.
Their game is not solid so it is easily suppressed by the pair Leo/Daniel nicknamed The Babies.
In the second game they further increased the level of the game through intensive attacks.
In the middle of the game, they were able to maintain a 10--8, 14-11, to 17-16 advantage.
However, the challenge occurred when Leo/Daniel had won the advantage to 17-18.
Luckily Bagas/Fikri were able to attack back and win four points in a row until they won the second game with a score of 21-18.
In the third game, Bagas/Fikri also almost lost at the end of the decisive game. When it was safe with match points 20-17, Bakri suddenly made an error and lost four points in a row.
