Regent Muhammad Adil OTT KPK, Meranti Regency Government Policy Taken Over Deputy Regent
Meranti Islands Deputy Regent (Wabup) Asmar ensured that the government in his area would continue to run normally even though Regent Muhammad Adil was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on suspicion of corruption on Thursday 6 April.
Asmar told reporters in Selatpanjang that he had summoned the regional secretary (sekda), assistants and all OPD leaders to his official residence regarding the certainty that the wheels of government would continue to run normally as usual.
For the time being, Deputy Regent Asmar will take over the policy as the Daily Executive (Plh.) of the Meranti Islands Regent for the next few days.
He asked all levels of officials to continue to work optimally so that services to the community run optimally.
"For the next step, all policies will be transferred to me as Plh. The Regent of Meranti. So, the wheels of government will continue, services to the community will continue," said Asmar, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 8.
When asked about the Regent of Adil being arrested by the KPK, he did not talk much. Deputy Regent Asmar left it entirely to the authorities according to the procedure.
Regarding a number of rooms in the regent's office which are currently still being sealed by the KPK, one of which is the regional secretary's office, Deputy Regent Asmar reminded the ranks and other parties apart from the KPK, that no one should touch or break the seal of the KPK sticker.
"If the room is sealed, let it be sealed, it cannot be disturbed. We are still waiting for orders from the KPK. The most important thing is that we prioritize serving the community," he said.
The Deputy Regent of Asmar also did not know for sure who Meranti's officials were transported by the KPK.
He did not want to assume that he would provide unilateral information related to the officials who were also arrested.

If later the official is still under the supervision or need for an examination by the KPK so that a vacancy occurs, the Deputy Regent will immediately fill in with other officials according to his function.
"I don't know (about the officials who were secured), I'm sorry. If (the vacancy of office) happens later, God willing, we will fill it as soon as possible. We will coordinate first with the BKD and the Regional Secretary so that this runs quickly and nothing is hampered," he said.
