PALEMBANG - The Search and Rescue Team (SAR) found the body of a toddler girl who drowned in the Musi River, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province.

Head of the Palembang National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Hery Marantika said the toddler had the initials RI (5), a resident of Rantau Bayur District, Banyuasin Regency.

"The Republic of Indonesia's body was found at around 17.00 WIB," said Hery, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 4.

At that time, the team in the field found that the victim's body had been floating by the current as far as 4.9 kilometers from the initial location, which was reported to have drowned.

He explained that RI reportedly drowned because it slipped while playing with water on the banks of the Musi Rantau Bayur River, last Monday, at around 16.00 WIB.

The SAR team immediately conducted a sweep along the river with the help of aqua eye submarines along with residents.

However, due to conditions starting at night, the SAR team in the field decided to continue sweeping the river on Tuesday morning, until the victim was found.

When found, the victim was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.
