Making Noise And Uneasy During Ramadan, 18 Illegal Race Perpetrators In Malang Arrested By Police
Police officers took action against 18 illegal racing perpetrators who were troubling residents of Malang City, East Java, during the holy month of Ramadan 1444 Hijri in a joint operation carried out on Friday, March 31 in the early hours of the morning at a number of points.
Head of the Malang City Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Akmad Fani Rakhim, said as many as 18 two-wheeled motorized vehicles and drivers, the majority of whom were young people, had been secured by officers.
"We have secured at least 18 motorbikes and motorists who are making noise and disturbing the community," he said, quoted by ANTARA, March 31.
Akhmad explained that the Malang City Police carried out joint patrols with members of the Satlantas, Samapta, the police ranks along with members of the 0833 Kodim and the Malang City Transportation Agency to take action against young people who carried out illegal racing.
According to him, there are a number of points that become places for illegal racing in Malang City, including Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Jalan S. Parman, Jalan Ijen, and Jalan Raya Major General Sungkono.
"Our efforts this time have paid off because it is proven that there are still many young people who are stubborn in carrying out illegal racing," he said.
He added that the illegal racing action caused inconvenience to the surrounding community and other road users who crossed the area.
Kasatlantas asked young people in Malang City not to carry out dangerous illegal racing activities.

Dozens of young people who were secured by the officers were taken to the Malang City Police Headquarters for data collection. Then, the police will call parents, teachers or family to pick them up.
"Then we will ask them to make a statement so as not to repeat their actions again. Meanwhile, vehicles can be taken and taken home by bringing completeness of the documents," he said.
