Oxbotica And Google Cloud Collaborate To Accelerate Implementation Of Autonomous Vehicles

JAKARTA - Alphabet Inc's Oxbotica and Google Cloud announced a partnership on Tuesday, March 28 to accelerate the implementation of the British startup's autonomous software platform to customers worldwide.

Oxbotica will use Google Cloud infrastructure to create "scalable, safe, and reliable" autonomous driving solutions for its customers in logistics, agriculture, lightweight industries, and public transportation, the two companies said.

The two companies say that Oxbotica will use Google Cloud products to develop and test its autonomous driving technology, including generating digital twin to validate its platform.

Oxbotica will also use Google Cloud's cybersecurity expertise to ensure safe use of autonomous driving technology.

Cloud infrastructure is considered very important to develop large-scale autonomous vehicles.

Wayve, another autonomous startup from England, uses supercomputer infrastructure designed by Microsoft investors to process large amounts of data while developing a machine learning-based model for autonomous cars.

Despite developing fully autonomous vehicles that can go anywhere proving more difficult and expensive than expected, investors continue to fund startups targeting simpler autonomous vehicle solutions far from pedestrians and other vehicles operated by unexpected humans.

Oxbotica announced in January that it had raised $140 million from investors to accelerate the implementation of autonomous vehicles in sectors such as heavy industries, ports, and airports.
