Domestic Violence Dominates Divorce Cases At OKU South Sumatra Throughout 2022

OKU - South Sumatra Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) District Religious Court recorded 483 divorce cases in the area throughout 2022."In 2022, we will handle 483 divorce cases," said Public Relations of the South OKU Religious Court, Yudi Hermawan in Muaradua, Antara, Friday, March 24.According to him, this number increased compared to 2021 with the number of divorce rates handled by his party amounting to 456 cases.Hundreds of divorce cases handled by the South OKU Religious Court were caused by several factors such as disputes between husband and wife, economic factors and domestic violence (KDRT).However, the majority or the most cases in the divorce were caused by domestic violence, resulting in a husband and wife choosing to divorce."For domestic violence, we are quite concerned because the case is quite high, reaching 75 cases processed at the South OKU Religious Court in 2022," he explained. He explained that in this domestic violence there were several indicators of the cause of violence experienced by his wife, one of which was early marriage."The unpreparedness of the married couple to be married is the trigger for frequent quarrels and ends up at domestic violence until they decide to divorce," he explained.According to Yudi, this domestic violence case must be a concern for all related parties, because it is indirectly related to criminal acts."For this reason, in the future, we together with related agencies will intensify socialization related to domestic violence and the impact of early marriage on the community in order to minimize divorce rates in South OKU in the future," he said.
