In Chaos At The Pondok Jati Matraman Train Crossing, PT KAI Proposes Flyover Development Or Underpass To The DKI Regional Government

The tight traffic flow of vehicles crossing the Pondok Jati train crossing (KA), Matraman District, East Jakarta, from morning to evening finally received the spotlight from Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta.

Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, confirmed that the Pondok Jati train crossing was one of the official crossings in the Matraman District area.

"The existence of the Pondok Jati crossing is an official crossing. In a coordination meeting with Daop 1 Jakarta, it will again submit proposals for the construction of a Flyover or underpass to the Regional Government," Eva told VOI, Wednesday, March 22.

Meanwhile, regarding the congestion conditions in the area, Eva continued, one of the reasons for the large number of two-wheeled vehicles that went against the flow, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta will also coordinate with the Transportation Agency and related police.

"Violations at level crossings and roads are traffic violations and can be dealt with by the authorities in accordance with applicable laws," he said.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta urges people around the rail line not to create illegal crossings that can endanger mutual safety.

"People and vehicle drivers must follow the rules of the signs that have been prepared when going through official crossings," he said.

The community must also fully assist and support the government's efforts to improve safety and security around the rail line.

"One of them is by closing a number of illegal crossings in the Daop 1 area of Jakarta," he said.

The railroad crossing (KA) Pondok Jati Station, Matraman District, East Jakarta is one of the level crossings that continues to be crowded by a number of passing vehicles. This railroad crossing with a ceiling is an official crossing.

But every day, this crossing becomes a congestion node that often endangers passing motorists. Narrow roads and lack of officers at crossings often cause long congestion points.

Congestion continues from morning to evening around the area. Moreover, severe congestion occurs during peak hours and school hours. This area looks chaotic because a number of vehicles pass simultaneously from two different sides.

In fact, when the railroad door was closed, it turned out that there were still motorbikes and cars stuck in traffic in the middle of the Pondok Jati railroad crossing. This condition is certainly very dangerous for the road user community.

Roy, one of the local residents, confirmed that every day there is always traffic jams in this area, because the lane from the cinnamon road should be one direction but used by motorcyclists to fight the direction.

"Congestion was exacerbated when the special lane for the motorbike in Tegalan was closed, so everyone wants to take a motorbike and is stuck in traffic because they focus on this crossing," Roy told reporters at the location, Tuesday, March 21.
