Throw Pipe Bombs, Terrorists Shot Dead By Densus

JAKARTA - Densus 88 shot dead a suspected terrorist with the initials WF alias Ibnu Thayyi. He was shot for throwing a pipe bomb shortly before being arrested on a boat in the waters of the Kampar River, Riau.

Karo Penmas DivHumas Polri Brig. Gen. Argo Yuwono said, WF threw the bomb when Densus 88 had a dialogue with him to want to surrender. As a result of this bomb explosion, one member was injured. Meanwhile, WF was shot dead because of his actions.

"When we were negotiating and being close to the ship, he threw a pipe bomb. One member was injured," Argo said in Jakarta, Monday, February 10.

"Then we will arrest those concerned and take firm and measured actions," he added.

Based on the information that has been collected, WF is a suspected terrorist who is part of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network. WF has a vital role, namely, finding or recruiting people to become volunteers. In addition, WF is also the admin of the WhatsApp group which is used as a medium for recruiting members.

"He was also the admin of the WA group who attracted people to become volunteers, including Polwan members from North Maluku," said Argo.

In the near future, continued Argo, WF plans to go to Syria to join ISIS and rebuild the group's glory.

"The person concerned also has a strong understanding which considers his in-laws to be shirk as well. Then he also plans to move to Syria," he said.

One of the people recruited by WF was Bripda Nesti who was a female police officer (polwan) from the North Maluku Regional Police. Bripda Nesti has been dishonorably discharged from the Bhayangkara Corps.

He was named a suspect under the suspicion of Article 15 juncto 12a and / or Article 13 of Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism.
