Idap Schizophrenia, Harun Yahya Was Treated In A Mental Hospital
JAKARTA - A Turkish court sentenced Adnan Oktar alias Harun Yahya to 1,075 years in prison. The 64-year-old Muslim preacher was found guilty of sexual crimes.
Reported by The Guardian, Tuesday, January 12, the judge's decision stated that the victim of sexual harassment Harun Yahya was classified as a minor. Harun Yahya was also convicted of fraud and attempts to spy on the government regarding political and military affairs.
Harun Yahya was arrested in June 2018, amid an investigation into alleged financial crimes he and his organization committed. The Harun Yahya trial involved the testimony of a number of victims who had experienced sexual harassment and abuse.
Psychiatric hospitalHarun Yahya was first arrested by Turkish authorities in 1986. He was arrested for promoting the issue of the Theocracy, a system of government based on the belief that God directly rules the country. The system also recognizes that the applicable state law is God's law. And, government is held directly by ulama or religious organizations.
As a result, Harun Yahya was imprisoned in the Forensic Medicine Department for 40 days. He was detained with his feet chained to the bed. During that time, his colleagues could only see him from behind bars for 5-10 minutes. However, after being examined by a military doctor, he was considered to have a mental disorder.
Turkish authorities then transferred him to the Bakirkoy Mental Hospital. Being treated for 10 months in this mental hospital, Harun Yahya was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive psychiatric disorders and schizophrenia. Launching bio.or.id, Harun Yahya was placed in room number 14A which was inhabited by dangerous people who were immune to punishment.
In total, Harun Yahya was detained and hospitalized in a mental hospital for 19 months. Out of the hospital, Harun Yahya said that his mental illness status was pinned by those who were not happy with the thoughts and books he wrote.
After that, Harun Yahya even founded a foundation and was passionate about writing about anti-evelousi theory and positioned himself as a creationist (pro-creation).
He was of the view, all creatures were created by God. His theory was later published in various documentaries, one of which was entitled 'Atlas of Creation'.
