Using Fish Bombs At Sea, 8 Fishermen From Sibolga North Sumatra Arrested By Aceh Police's Ditpolairud

ACEH - Personnel from the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the Aceh Regional Police have arrested a fishing boat suspected of carrying out illegal fishing using explosives in the territorial waters of Aceh Singkil Regency.

"This arrest was made because the fisherman allegedly used explosives while fishing in the sea," said Director of Polairud Polda Aceh Kombes Risnanto in a written statement received in Meulaboh, Antara, Tuesday, March 14.

During the arrest, the police also secured one ship captain with the initials AF (38), and seven crew members (ABK), each with the initials HS (33), TS (41), DZ (27), MP (44), FL (42), AH (28), and NT (35).

Risnanto explained that the eight suspects were all from Sibolga, North Sumatra.

The arrest of the eight suspects while in Aceh waters on board the Baru Rezeki motor boat with a capacity of 5 grosstons (GT).

The evidence that was also secured by the officers included a motorized boat, 18 bottles of a total of 50 bottles suspected of being explosives, a compressor engine unit, a blue canoe unit with red stripes, four sets of diving equipment, 55 detonators/wicks, 25 incense sticks. red, three rolls of compressor hose with a length of 150 meters.

Then the police secured evidence of three regulators, three ballast, one GPS unit, two GPS transmitter units, one fish finder unit, and 2,966 kilograms of fish caught.

For their actions, the eight fishermen violated Article 1 paragraph (1) of Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951. In conjunction with Article 84 Paragraph (1) and (2) of Law No. 31 of 2004, regarding fisheries, Jo Article 85 of Law No. 45 of 2009, concerning changes to Law No. 31 of 2004, with a maximum threat of 20 years in prison, said Kombes Pol Risnanto.
