Ahead Of Ramadan, The Government Is Asked To Anticipate The Increase In Prices Of Basic Materials
JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked the government to immediately take steps to suppress the increase in basic necessities before entering the month of Ramadan. This was conveyed by Puan when checking the prices for basic necessities ahead of Ramadan at the Cihapit Market in Bandung, West Java, Monday. "The government must prepare an instrument so that prices remain stable ahead of Ramadan. Stabilize prices with market operations, stock management, and smooth distribution so that prices are stable," said Puan, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 6. According to her, the government needs to prepare instruments to stabilize prices for basic necessities to suppress inflation. Thus, our brothers and sisters can carry out fasting in Ramadan month in a conducive atmosphere," she added. Before going around checking prices for basic needs, Puan first had breakfast at the Bu Eha Stall within Citapit Market. The stall, which was founded in 1947, she said, often became a subscription to her family's food stalls. She then stopped at a number of stalls to interact with traders and visitors who were shopping while taking pictures with those who asked for a group photo when crossing with Puan. One of the vegetable stall traders at Citapit Market told Puan that there was an increase in the price of cayenne pepper.
Cabe cawit, ma'am. Previously, Rp. 60,000 per kg from there was now Rp. 70-80 thousand per kg," said Sri in response to Puan's question about the increase in vegetable prices. Sri said the price of vegetables and basic necessities often rose significantly a week before fasting and skyrocketed ahead of Eid al-Fitr, such as chili prices, chicken eggs, to sugar. The price of ordinary oil (non-subsidized) she said is still expensive. In addition, Puan received complaints about the increase in prices for basic necessities which also had an impact on food production. Previously, Puan checked the prices of basic necessities at Indralaya Market, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, last Saturday, before Ramadan. "I want to check the prices of basic necessities before entering Ramadan," said Puan in a written statement received in Jakarta.
During her visit, Puan confirmed that she would coordinate with the central government regarding complaints of subsidized cooking oil in Oilita that had disappeared from the market. He asked the local government in South Sumatra to pay attention to the stability of basic goods (sembako) stock ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah.
