Jokowi Orders The Minister Of Transportation To Maximize The Search For The Falling Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 Aircraft

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed that the search for Sriwijaya Air SJ182 aircraft in the Thousand Islands be carried out optimally. The Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route is thought to have crashed on Lancang Island and Laki Island.

"At 17.30 WIB, the president gave directions to maximize the search," said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Saturday, January 9.

Sriwijaya Air SJ182 aircraft lost contact after the last communication at 14:40 WIB.

There are a total of 50 passengers along with 12 crew of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft. Of the total 62 people on the plane, 7 of them were children and 3 babies.

Basarnas has moved in the area where the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane crashed in the Thousand Islands. The plane allegedly crashed in the waters between Lancang Island and Male Island.

"Tonight, our concept is looking for a location where exactly the plane might fall in the hope that after tonight we can find a definite location, tomorrow morning we will conduct a search and deepen," said Deputy for Operations and Preparedness of Basarnas, Major General TNI Bambang Suryo Aji in a press conference on Saturday. , January 9.

The depth of the waters in Lancang Island and Male Island, Thousand Islands is about 20-23 meters. Basarnas is still looking for the coordinates of the Sriwijaya Air plane for the Jakarta-Pontianak route.

“The maximum depth on Lancang Island and Male Island is around 20-23 meters. We don't know exactly where the position is. Currently our personnel are already in the field and have found some parts of the plane and the obstacle we face is visibility due to nighttime. But tonight we will do our best, if tonight we find the coordinates of the crash, tomorrow morning we will do a search, "he continued.
