Called Persipura Does Not Want To Pay The Remaining Contract, Bank Papua: Paid Three Terms If The Competition Goes On
JAKARTA - Bank Papua, as the main sponsor of the Persipura Jayapura team, has clarified the issue of sponsorship, which has become a topic of discussion because it is considered that it does not want to pay the remaining contract value of Rp.
In a statement via its official website, Friday, Bank Papua is not reluctant to pay the remaining contract to Persipura Jayapura. However, referring to the cooperation agreement (PKS) the contract payment is divided into three terms.
"Bank Papua agreed to become the Main Sponsor of Persipura in participating in the League 1 Competition 2020 by providing funds of Rp. 10 billion during the 2020 competition period," said a statement from Bank Papua, represented by the head of the division of Bank Papua corporate secretary Erna M. Kapisa.
In the first term, Bank Papua has disbursed IDR 5 billion when the Indonesian League 1 competition officially began. The first phase of funds will be realized on March 5, 2020.
For the second term, payments will be made when the competition enters the second round with a value of Rp 3.5 billion. The rest will be paid before the Indonesian League 1 competition ends, which is IDR 1.5 billion.
Referring to the contents of the PKS, Bank Papua has paid its obligation as the main sponsor of IDR 5 billion when the competition starts. However, when the league has only played three matches, the competition must be postponed due to the impact of COVID-19 transmission.
Meanwhile, the remaining value of the new contract will be paid in accordance with the contents of the PKS agreement. However, the payment has been delayed because until now the competition has not yet continued and is even threatened with being stopped.
"Until now the PSSI and LIB have not provided clarity regarding the continuation of the League 1 Competition in 2020,"
"With the temporary suspension of the 2020 League 1 Competition, Bank Papua has not been able to disburse sponsorship funds for stages II and III. This is in accordance with the terms of the sponsorship fund disbursement agreed in the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between Bank Papua and Persipura," he wrote.
Bank Papua also emphasized that it will continue to support the progress of the team nicknamed the Black Pearl in navigating domestic competitions. If the competition resumes, Bank Papua promises to fulfill its obligations as the main sponsor.
"If the League 1 Competition in 2020 continues, Bank Papua will immediately fulfill its obligations according to the contents of the PKS to realize / disburse sponsorship funds for stages II and III," he wrote.
Previously, the management of Persipura Jayapura stopped all team activities due to the financial crisis so that they could no longer pay the salaries of players, coaches and all officials in the absence of competition.
In a statement on the club's official Instagram page, the decision to stop the team's activities was due to the unpaid remaining contract from Bank Papua as the sponsor of the Mutiara Hitam team of IDR 5 billion.
"We are also surprised by the certainty that Bank Papua is not willing to pay the remaining contract, even though we heard that the President Commissioner said that there would still be funds for the development of Persipura players even though the competition was not running. But apparently it could not be paid," wrote Persipura chairman Benhur Tomi Mano.
