PSBB Jawa Bali, DPRD DKI Suggests The Government To Conduct Free Bulk Swab

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission A DPRD DKI, Mujiyono welcomed the government's decision to tighten the PSBB in Java and Bali from 11 to 25 January.

When the PSBB was implemented, Mujiyono advised the government to carry out a mass swab test movement to the public. This has been accompanied by an increase in the availability of laboratories for testing PCR COVID-19 specimens.

"The government should increase the availability of laboratories to carry out PCR swab tests in all regions that implement PSBB," said Mujiyono in his statement, Friday, January 8.

Mujiyono considers that the mass swab effort is useful for screening people infected with COVID-19, especially without symptoms when restrictions are tightened so that it can more effectively break the chain of spreading the corona virus.

However, so that many people are willing to do mass PCR examinations, Mujiyono suggested that the swab test be done for free.

"Carry out a mass PCR swab movement with free of charge, so that there is a drastic increase in the number of tests carried out in areas that implement the Java and Bali PSBB," he said.

Furthermore, seeing the potential spike in cases after the Christmas and New Year 2020 holidays, Mujiyono asked the government to immediately increase the capacity of hospitals for handling COVID-19 patients, both isolation rooms and ICUs.

"Support for health workers also needs to be improved. Perhaps, the government can ask for additional health personnel support from friendly countries that are already able to control the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
