DKI Pemprov Will Buy 21 Electric Service Cars In 2023

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) is procuring 21 electric-powered official cars in 2023 to support environmentally friendly policies.

"We are in the process of procuring electric cars," said Head of the DKI Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD) Reza Pahlevi as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 20.

For the procurement of the electric car, his party is currently drafting a revision of regional head regulations (perkada) regarding operational service vehicles.

"All that remains is to change it, the DKI Pemprov is allowed to procure electric vehicles, just one article. There must be a gubernatorial regulation first. One word revision," he added, adding a revision through the Ministry of Home Affairs.

However, he did not disclose details of the budget allocation provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for the procurement of electric power official vehicles.

Even so, he gave an overview of the price range for electric cars per unit, which is estimated to be around IDR 800 million.

Later, electric vehicles for the service will include governors, regional secretaries, government assistants, inspectorates, and other services.

The procurement of electric cars, he said, was only for 2023, while in 2024 his party plans not to procure it because the budget is prioritized for other needs.

"For 2024 there will be elections, we will focus first. God willing, we will support the election. If you make (electric cars) a fishing rod, money is also limited," he said.

Procurement of battery-based electric motorized vehicles was carried out after the issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery Electric Vehicles as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Service Vehicles for Central Government Agencies and Regional Governments.

The use of battery-based electric motorized vehicles is expected to reduce the use of fuel oil (BBM) and be more environmentally friendly.

Through the Presidential Instruction, Jokowi ordered regional heads to compile and stipulate regulations to support the acceleration of the implementation of the use of electric vehicles.

The President also instructed the preparation of budget allocations to support the program.

Then, encouraging Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to increase the use of various types of battery-based electric motorized vehicles.
