JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) directly monitors the peak flow of backflow for the 2020 New Year holidays. It is estimated that a surge in backflow will occur, on Sunday night.

"As of today, Sunday (3/1) morning, the traffic spike has gone up but it is not yet significant. It can be predicted that the peak of backflow will occur in the evening until early morning, but certainly it will not be as crowded as usual holidays," explained the Directorate. General of Land Transportation (Dirjen Hubdat) Budi Setiyadi, Thursday, December 31.

Based on air monitoring at the Nataru Cikopo Post, there were 523,520 vehicles out of Jabodetabek from the Cikampek Main, Kalihurip, Cikupa and Ciawi toll gates.

Therefore, he also appealed to the public to adjust the time of his return so as not to be hit by congestion on the road and as much as possible avoid the return trip at the peak of the backflow.

He continued, based on the available data, it can be seen that traffic conditions are very conducive and not as busy as the previous holidays. This shows that many people have followed the appeal of the Government and the Covid-19 Task Force not to travel, especially if there is no high urgency.

"I had previously conducted an overview using a helicopter to monitor traffic in the Puncak area, West Java and its surroundings, the results were monitored smoothly, I think this is because people are starting to realize that this is not a good time to travel," he continued.
