PT DSI Will Be Summoned By Riau Provincial Government Regarding Land Disputes With Residents In Siak That End In Chaos
RIAU - The Legal Bureau of the Riau Provincial Government summoned the Siak Regency Government (Pemkab). The summons was related to the handling of land disputes in Dayun Village between PT Duta Swakarya Indah (DSI) and residents who owned certified land which ended in chaos.
Head of the Legal Bureau of the Riau Provincial Government Elly Wardhani said that her party had held a meeting with the Siak Regency Government to discuss the issue of PT DSI's plantation permits.
"The meeting is not over yet, there will be another meeting," she said in Pekanbaru, Riau, Monday, February 13, as reported by Antara.
Elly said that currently, the Riau Provincial Government is still conducting an internal evaluation so there is no scheduled summons yet. However, she ensured that PT DSI would be summoned regarding the problems in Siak.
She admitted that the Riau Provincial Government is still investigating PT DSI, which does not yet have a Certificate of Utilization Permit (HGU), including the issue of Plantation Business Permits and Location Permits issued by the Regent of Siak.
"We haven't received definite information yet. That's why the Siak Regency Government will be invited again," she continued.

Regarding PT DSI, which until now does not have a Certificate of Utilization Permit, Elly emphasized that legally companies without a Certificate of Utilization Permit cannot carry out plantation business activities. But PT DSI has been processing the Certificate of Utilization Permit for quite a long time and until now it has not been completed.
She said that in the near future, her party would again hold a meeting with the Siak Regency Government to discuss the continuation of the Perisai NGO report.
"It depends on their readiness because we need documents from them," she said.
PT DSI's case with the certified landowner has been going on for a long time. The reason is that the land with the status of certificate of ownership rights (SHM) for the residents is in the forest release area of PT DSI.
PT DSI then sued PT Karya Dayun which was considered to control around 1,300 hectares of land in Dayun. PT DSI also won and a land match was carried out by the Siak District Court some time ago after several opportunities were rejected by residents who claimed to have rights over the land.
Since the match was carried out with the help of the police, the situation is getting out of control. Friction between PT DSI was inevitable and led to clashes, which are currently being handled by the Siak Police.
