Marry Bini Orang, Ex-Chinese Communist Party Officer Sentenced To Death

JAKARTA - Former Managing Director of China Huarong Asset Management Co Ltd Lai Xiaomin, Tuesday, January 5, was sentenced to death. A panel of judges at the Tianjin City Court of Appeal sentenced him to death after a former boss of a company that manages the country's financial assets pleaded guilty to corruption and bigamy.

Bigami is marrying someone else's wife who is undergoing a divorce process so that his divorce status does not yet have permanent legal force. The panel of judges also decided to revoke political rights and confiscate all personal assets of the defendant.

Lai, who is now 59 years old, has held several positions, including at the People's Bank of China (central bank), Deputy Director of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, and a delegation of the National People's Congress (NPC) as the highest legislative body in China.

The Jiangxi-born man was fired from the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) on April 17, 2018 on charges of disciplinary offenses. The day before, two professionals had been dismissed from the CPC management for various disciplinary offenses.

Former shipping dock director and former head of the aircraft transportation division Hu Wenming was fired from the CPC on charges of bribery and abuse of office.

Likewise, the former top brass of China's largest food trading company COFCO was also removed from the party for allegedly accepting bribes, claiming personal expenses and attending banquets that could affect his post.

The CPC Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection and National Oversight as China's anti-graft agency is conducting further investigations before a case involving the two professionals is transferred to local law enforcement officials.
