Unpad Chancellor: Manpower Productivity And Technology Utilization Are The Key To Economic Development Achieving Vision 2045

JAKARTA - Padjadjaran University Chancellor (Unpad) Rina Indiastuti said increasing labor productivity and utilizing technological advances and innovation is a key strategy in accelerating economic development to achieve the 2045 Indonesian Vision.

"This productivity that may need to be noted is how this productivity is supported by workers with education of at least SMA and above 90 percent," Rina said in a discussion on The future is now: Collaborative action to achieve Indonesia Vision 2045, quoted from Antara, Friday 10 February.

The vision of Indonesia 2045 is to become a high-income country sovereign, advanced, just and prosperous as well as one of the world's largest economies.

Rina said that human resources act as productivity motorcycles, so they must be sure that they are not only skilled, but also educated both formal and informal education. The target that must be achieved is 90 percent of high school-educated workers and above.

This is in line with the application of a knowledge based economy approach, which is to encourage productivity with a human resource base that must be productive, competitive, innovative accompanied by research and development, technology adoption and entrepreneurship.

"The innovative human resources with an innovation ecosystem that was built will make the development of the social economy run better," he said.

Implementation of knowledge based economy requires government intervention through funding for the development of science and research that will be able to stimulate creativity and diffusion of innovation.

If education, development of science and technology and research goes well, it is hoped that the externalities caused by spillovers on technology, development and research and education will increase per capita income.

In addition, the economic and social environment is also encouraged to strengthen technological developments that increase creativity and diffusion of innovation. Thus, technological advances and innovation are the driving force for economic growth.

To accelerate the achievement of Vision Indonesia 2045 by transforming towards maintained productivity, collaboration of all elements of the nation is needed to build social networks as social capital that encourages economic growth and increase per capita income accompanied by equity.

Collaboration is also needed to accelerate the achievement of the Human Development Index, both at the level of education, literacy, health and purchasing power, as well as the provision of technology infrastructure. Collaboration at the domestic and global levels needs to be improved.

Furthermore, collaboration is also important to accelerate competitive and sustainable industrialization.

"Things that are in the future of education, research and development, innovation are the needs of young people now that they live in 2045, please pay quite good attention to social capital support," he said.
