Police Send 26 Earthquake Handling Assistance Personnel In Turkey And Syria
JAKARTA - The National Police sent as many as 26 personnel with search and rescue or rescue qualifications and medical in the humanitarian operation of the Indonesian government to assist in handling the impact of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.The Head of Baharkam Polri, Komjen Arief Sulistyanto, said the 26 personnel who departed consisted of 21 core personnel plus the head of the task force (kasatgas) and staff."The National Police sent a team of three elements. The first is the medical team, the second is the DVI team and the third is the K-9 team," said Arief During a personnel readiness meeting at the Field of the Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, February 9.The delivery of these three elements of the team was based on a request from the results of a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy on Wednesday.Of the three elements, the medical team sent was 10 people, consisting of three general practitioners, one orthopedic specialist, one anesthetic doctor, and the rest an expert nurse.Then the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team numbered seven people, consisting of three specialists in odontology, one forensic doctor and expert nurse."For the K-9 team from Basarnas, he asked only two units because in Turkey and Syria there are also from other countries to join. So, the National Police sent two units of K-9 (tracker dogs) with four handlers," explained Arief.The National Police's Humanitarian Task Force Team was dispatched with humanitarian assistance from Indonesia under the control of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Basarnas. The team is expected to serve for one month.Arief advised the personnel involved in the humanitarian operation to maintain conditions and health, considering that the weather in Turkey is currently winter with air temperatures up to minus 9 degrees Celsius."For this reason, the National Police has prepared all the needs and equipment needed by personnel for winter, including K-9 equipped with warm clothes and warm pillows to quickly restore body condition," said Arief.According to Arief, the personnel sent already have readiness and toughness in carrying out their duties in any situation. "Incidentally, K-9 is used to cold weather because its home area (Netherlands) is getting colder," said Arief.The departure of the National Police's Humanitarian Task Force was also facilitated by the National Police's International Relations Division (Hubinter) in managing all documents and personnel travel documents.Arief added that the National Police always responds to humanitarian missions as a form of the Indonesian nation's concern for the Turkish people."According to the order of the National Police Chief who followed up on the President's order that the Indonesian government in carrying out international duties and solidarity would send a humanitarian task force under the coordination of BNPB and Basarnas," said Arief.
