Binance And Other Crypto Companies Donate Funds For Turkish Earthquake Victims

JAKARTA On Monday 6 February 2023, a 7.8-scale richter earthquake rocked southeastern Turkey and parts of Syria, claiming thousands of lives. This has become the center of attention of the global community including the crypto community.

Recently, the largest crypto trading company by its daily trading volume, Binance, has listed its name on the list of crypto companies providing assistance to victims of the Turkish earthquake.

Binance will provide $ 100 BNB to any affected Turkish Binance user. The crypto company founded by Changpeng Zhao launched a public donation address where everyone can contribute.

Binance also pledged to make a donation of 100 US dollars in Binance Coin (BNB) tokens to users in the cities worst affected by the earthquake in Turkey, including Gaziantep, Kilis, Kahramanmara totaling, Adana, Malatya, and many more. This total donation is equivalent to 94 million Turkish lires, or equivalent to 5 million US dollars. This was announced by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ).

"The recent earthquake in Turkey has had a very bad impact on many people and society. We hope that our efforts will provide assistance to those affected. We also invite our fellow industries to once again unite and provide support during this crisis," said CZ, quoted by CryptoPotato.

Not only for users, Binance also launched public donation addresses where people can send BTC, ETH, BNB, BUSD, and XRP to ease the suffering of earthquake victims.

Apart from Binance, a number of other crypto companies such as Bybit, BitMEX, and Bitfinex participated in raising funds for earthquake victims. BitMEX itself plans to donate the proceeds from this week's trading competition to the Red Crescent.
