Polri Trains 94 Paramedics To Qualify BTCLS
JAKARTA - The National Police held basic trauma and cardiac life support (BTCLS) training for 94 police paramedics in order to improve the qualifications for handling trauma or injury cases to support the police's duties in contingency situations.
The training lasted for five days, and officially opened with a ceremony at the Brimob Training Center, Brimob Corps, Cikeas, West Java, Monday, 6 February.
"The aim of this training is to prepare Polri health personnel who have basic trauma and cardiac life support competencies in order to support police operations in contingency situations and health crises," said the Head of the National Police's Medical and Health Center (Kapusdokkes) Inspector General Asep Hendradiana as reported by ANTARA.
The BTCLS training participants are Polri paramedics who come from Brimob units, Education and Training Centers, and regional health doctors (dokkes) (polda/polres).
The background to this training, said Asep, is in various police operations mainly carried out by Brimob in contingency situations. So far, in the field, they have also collaborated with the National Police Dokkes in handling victims, be it natural disasters, accidents, or other health crises.
For this reason, the National Police needs personnel with BTCLS qualifications or competence to minimize morbidity and mortality.
"Officers being trained are those who do not yet have BTCLS qualifications," said Asep.
The target to be achieved from this training is the availability of Polri health personnel with BTCLS qualifications or competencies who are ready to support police operations in contingency situations and health crises.
"Polri personnel with BTCLS competence are ready to support police operations both in contingency situations and health crises," said Asep.
Referring to the DKI Jakarta Health Service website, BTCLS is a training that provides a trusted method for handling trauma cases and basic knowledge for treatment.
This training applies a simple concept, namely the formation of the ABCDEFGH approach to evaluate and treat injured patients.
It was also stated, BTCLS training emphasizes that injury can cause death in a short time. So this training is important to learn these concepts so that they are more effective in providing help.
