Fake A Bank Transaction In Order To Sleep With A Woman With Sugar Baby Mode, This Man Was Sentenced To Prison

JAKARTA - This married man is desperate to offer a woman he just met on Instagram a reward of 22,000 Singapore dollars or around Rp. 250,938,639, if he wants to become a sugar baby and serve his sexual desires, even though the man is aware that he does not have that much money.

Liaw Jin Yi, 42, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison on January 31, over allegations of fraud for sexual services. In addition, two other charges for falsifying bank documents and testing sexual illness are considered in punishment.

During the trial, Liaw was revealed to have met the victim, a 24-year-old woman, in January 2020 after she sent her a message on Instagram, according to CNA Jan. 31.

He used the fake name "Trevor" and asked the victim to be his baby sugar. He offered him a monthly salary of between 8.000 Singapore dollars (Rp. 91.250.414) to 15.000 Singapore dollars (Rp. 171.094.527), in exchange for sexual services based on this arrangement.

The victim initially refused the offer, because he had never made such arrangements.

In fact, Liaw continued to pursue victims until July 2020 he increased his monthly salary offered to 22,000 Singapore dollars (Rp250,938,639) for sexual services.

He also looked for ways to convince the victim that his offer was trustworthy, showing details of someone he claims to be his former sugar baby.

In fact, he gave the victim one of his own contact numbers. When the victim contacted the number, Liaw disguised his voice and disguised himself as a woman.

While posing as a former sugar baby, Liaw guarantees his own credibility and tries to get nude photos from the victim.

After that, the victim met Liaw to discuss his offer. During the meeting, Liaw promised to raise his salary to 25,000 Singapore dollars or around Rp. 285,157,545, if the victim booked a hotel room for the next meeting.

Liaw also said he would transfer down payment before they meet at the hotel.

The condition of the victim who is unemployed and has financial problems, made him accept the offer.

Liaw never intended to transfer money to the victim and he realized he did not have the money he promised to the victim.

On July 25, 2020, Liaw sent a picture of a bank transaction to the victim showing that he had transferred 25.000 Singapore dollars to the victim's bank account.

He used Microsoft Word to fake the transaction, and sent his photo to the victim on the Telegram app. He used a function that caused the image to disappear after a few seconds.

The victim stated that he was hesitant to meet Liaw, because he did not find the money in his account after repeatedly checking throughout the day.

On the other hand, Liaw also reprimanded the victim, as if the victim did not believe and implied that he would run away with the money he had transferred.

He promised that he had transferred the money, said it would go into the victim's account in the coming days. Liaw also complained that the victim had made him uncomfortable, as he had rearranged the promise to make a meeting.

The victim finally believed Liaw had transferred the money, and then on the same day ordered and paid for the hotel room. They meet at the hotel and have sex. The victim bought a condom and asked Liaw to use it.

Liaw did not pay the victim for sexual services or condoms, although he had promised to do so, prosecutors said.

Singapore Court documents do not show how the case was revealed. However, the prosecution filed a three-year and six-month prison sentence against Liaw.

Prosecutors referred to the impact, in which the victim said he was traumatized by the incident.

Meanwhile, Liaw's lawyer, S S Dhillon said his client was working with the investigation and was continuing to seek psychiatric help. In his written mitigation request, Dhillon said Liaw was having a marriage conflict with his Vietnamese wife at the time the case occurred.

"Because his sexual relationship with his wife was affected, he came up with the idea of contacting the victim and vowed to pay S$25,000 for his sexual services," he said.

He asked for leniency, saying Liaw had a seven-year-old girl and elderly parents.

However, District Judge Wong Li Tein underlined Liaw's "significant plans".

"He tried hard to give a fake sugar baby number, which actually belonged to him, disguised himself as sugar baby and then falsified documents," said the judge.

The judge said Liaw manipulated a much younger victim, who was in a vulnerable position and agreed with the demands made. It is known that Liaw is planning to start his prison sentence on February 28.
