Prabowo Optimistic Indonesia-Turkey Can Contribute to World Peace
JAKARTA - The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Hulusi Akar in Ankara, Turkey on Friday, 3 February. From that meeting, he was sure that Indonesia and Turkey could contribute to world peace and stability.
"I am optimistic that close cooperation within the strategic partnership framework between Turkey and Indonesia can contribute to world peace and stability", Prabowo said in his written statement quoted on Saturday, February 4.
During the meeting, Prabowo and Hulusi signed an action plan for defence cooperation. The cooperation is expected to increase the potential for training and the defence industry.
"We have just signed something very historic and important, namely the action plan", he said.
This action plan, said Prabowo, is also a follow-up to the previously established cooperative relationship.

Meanwhile, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said his country and Indonesia had discussed the implementation of this cooperation. Thus, the action plan was then signed.
"It is important for us to increase the potential for military training and cooperation between our countries in the defence industry", he said.
Hulusi hopes that the Indonesia-Turkey bilateral relations in the field of defence can make a positive contribution. "Not only for the national interests of the two countries but also regional security", concluded the Turkish Defense Minister.
