PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) conducted a groundbreaking for the construction of a new assembly plant in the Karawang area, West Java, with an investment value of IDR 2.9 trillion.

PT ADM President Director Yasushi Kyoda said the addition of Daihatsu's production line in Indonesia has an environmentally friendly concept and sustainability to realize the company's efforts in meeting the carbon neutral target in accordance with sustainable development or SDGs for Indonesia in the future. future.

"Later on, the new factory facility to be built will take advantage of renewable energy which can reduce carbon emission levels by up to 20 percent. The factory is an update and will replace the factory previously located in Sunter, precisely Line 1, which has been operating for 27 years," Yasushi said in his official statement, Friday, February 3.

This development is known to be a continuation of the construction of the previous factory in Karawang, namely the Karawang Assembly Plant Line 1, in 2011.

"This is a form of our appreciation to all parties, especially the Indonesian government, Daihatsu partners, and all loyal customers. This factory update is an important milestone for us to lead to the future, as well as a form of our commitment to further cooperation with Indonesia," he explained.

On this occasion, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Doddy Widodo was also present.

Doddy said, Indonesia is still seen as the ideal country to invest, as reflected in the continued growth of investment in the country, one of which is in the automotive industry sub-sector.

"The government appreciates the steps taken by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) for the development of an increasingly large industrial company by expanding its production capacity. This shows that government incentives, especially for the automotive industry, work well," he said.

Dody said, PT ADM has a large contribution to the growth of the automotive industry in the country. In 2022, the company will be able to export 473 thousand units of vehicles.

This amount is equivalent to almost 30 percent of the total automotive exports based in Indonesia and spread to 80 countries in the world.

"This is a very extraordinary achievement. Even greater, Daihatsu has recruited 13 thousand workers, and involved more than 800 thousand workers from tier 1 and 2 suppliers. With this additional investment, it is hoped that it will continue to increase the number of workers, especially local workers," he said.

PT ADM is also expected to be a pioneer in the development of a high competitive component industry through the development of Research and Development (R&D), so that it can increase the content value of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) by involving more domestic component industry players.

In addition, it can be a bridge for the Small and Medium Industry (IKM) sector to enter the global supply chain Daihatsu.
