Waiting For Direction, There Is No Face-to-Face School In Pekanbaru
JAKARTA - The Pekanbaru City Government of Riau Province will not yet implement face-to-face schools in January 2021 for early childhood, kindergarten, elementary and junior high school students, for various reasons.
Pekanbaru Mayor Firdaus MT said there were two reasons to consider if face-to-face schools were implemented for local students, namely permits and a map of the COVID-19 zone.
"There must be permits from two Ministries, namely Education and Home Affairs," said Firdaus through his statement in Pekanbaru, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 2.
Firdaus said that until now his party had not received instructions from the two ministers.
However, Pekanbaru City Government will support any decision by the central government through the two ministries to implement face-to-face schools.
"Hopefully, certainty will be obtained soon," said Firdaus.
Because according to the President's direction, continued Firdaus, saving the soul of the nation is the main thing in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic.
So that the Pekanbaru City Government will also pay attention to the local COVID-19 distribution zone map, when face-to-face schools begin.
"Even if the instructions from the two ministries are published in Pekanbaru, we still have to pay attention to the zone map for the spread of COVID-19 to carry out face-to-face schools," he said.
According to the direction of the regional central government, those in the yellow and green zones are allowed to run face-to-face schools.
Whereas in the orange zone especially in red it is not justified to do so. "So if Pekanbaru is in orange and red, face-to-face school will be postponed," said Firdaus MT.
Based on local Diskes data, as many as 12 sub-districts in Pekanbaru City are still in the yellow and orange zone, there is even one sub-district, Sail, which is in the red zone, with a high risk of transmission, and none in the green zone.
