Regarding The Concession Of Marriage Invited Accounts, BRI Asks Customers To Be Alert For Social Engineering Crimes

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk reminds customers to be careful about the mode of burglary of accounts under the guise of wedding invitations.

How it works, the perpetrator pretended to be the sender of the invitation by sending the APK extension file, accompanied by a photo of the invitation to the wedding to the victim.

The victim was also asked to click and download the application.

Furthermore, the victim must approve the access rights (permission) of several applications so that from there the confidential personal data in the victim's cellphone can be stolen by the perpetrator.

The stolen data can be very diverse, personal data and various information coming in via SMS, including confidential banking data such as one time password (OTP) and other data can be retrieved by a fraudster.

BRI Network and Service Director Andrijanto appealed to customers and the public to be more careful with banking crime modes called social engineering or soceng.

He hopes that the number of victims of banking crimes will not increase.

Customers should always be aware of various modes of social engineering crimes. The confidentiality of personal data and banking transaction data must be maintained, not only by the bank, but also by customers," he said in a statement to the media, Friday, January 27.

Andrijanto revealed that BRI also massively continues to appeal to customers to be more careful, and not to download, install, or access unofficial applications.

Customers are also advised to increase vigilance by not providing confidential personal data or banking data such as user id mobile banking, password, PIN, OTP to any party, including those on behalf of BRI.

"If the public has already downloaded the unknown application, then they are advised to immediately uninstall the unknown application," he continued.

His party appealed if customers received notifications via SMS, electronic mail for transactions that were not carried out, so they could immediately contact the official BRI Contact at 14017/1500017.

Customers are also advised not to easily trust unofficial social media accounts on behalf of BRI, while BRI's official communication channels (blue ticks/verified) can only be accessed by customers via www.bri.co.id, Instagram: @bankbri_id, Twitter: bankbri_id, contact bri, promo_bri, Facebook: Bank BRI, YouTube: Bank BRI, TikTok: Bank BRI, and Contact BRI 14017/1500017.

Not only at BRI, continued Andrijanto, banking crimes with social engineering mode can also occur in any bank.

"Therefore, to fight against banking crimes, BRI also continues to proactively coordinate with the police to uncover and arrest various banking crimes that harm customers and the public in general," he concluded.
