Bank Jatim Will Acquire 15 Percent Of Bank NTB Syariah Shares Worth IDR 3 Trillion
JAKARTA - Bank Jatim plans to acquire a 15 percent stake owned by Bank NTB Syariah worth IDR 3 trillion in an effort to help meet the core capital of a bank owned by the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government in 2024.
The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of NTB, Lalu Gita Ariadi, said that in the cooperation plan between Bank Jatim and Bank NTB Syariah, one of the forms is through share ownership.
"The offer for a 15 percent share ownership scheme by Bank Jatim has been agreed upon with the provincial government and district and city governments in NTB as the shareholder. The OJK tolerates up to 30 percent at a general meeting of shareholders, but our choice is in a safe position, namely 15 percent," he said during an international workshop and training on ciguatera fish poisoning in the Senggigi tourist area, West Lombok Regency, NTB, as quoted from Antara, Thursday 26 January.
He explained that the acquisition of Bank NTB Syariah shares, whose share composition is owned by the provincial government along with 10 regencies and cities in NTB, is nothing but a form of saving the fulfillment of Bank NTB Syariah's core capital of IDR 3 trillion at the end of 2024. Because if not, the status of Bank NTB Syariah will decrease. caste into People's Credit Bank (BPR).
"When we discussed the mechanism for fulfilling the core capital it was sparked that we had to cooperate with other parties and the choice at that time was directed towards East Java. If this collaboration goes ahead, the choice of obligations according to OJK regulations for a core capital of IDR 3 trillion has been neglected with this cooperation," he explained.
Gita Ariadi admits that he does not know the details of the cooperation pattern, including the value of the acquisition of the 15 percent stake. However, in general terms, the acquisition of Bank NTB Syariah shares by Bank Jatim has saved Bank NTB Syariah.
"Of course, Bank Jatim cannot become the majority shareholder, because the NTB Provincial Government is with other districts and cities. But don't let the Provincial Government and other shareholders become delusional so we don't expect that to happen," he explained.
However, continued the Secretary of West Nusa Tenggara, cooperation between the two parties will continue to be evaluated. Although by regulation it is allowed to be 30 percent, the NTB Provincial Government still chooses 15 percent.
"Regarding this scheme, it is clear that we have implemented Bank NTB Syariah's core capital," he said.
Previously, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) required Bank NTB Syariah to meet the minimum capital requirement of IDR 3 trillion in 2024. This was regulated in POJK Number 12/POJK.03/2020 concerning Consolidation of Commercial Banks.
