ERP Is Considered More Effective Than The Even Odd Rules In Jakarta
JAKARTA - Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) or electronic paid roads will soon be implemented in Jakarta in 2023. The ERP implementation is due to the traffic situation in the capital Jakarta, which is increasingly being absorbed by motorized vehicles on Jalan Kota Jakarta.
"The ERP system has been widely used by major cities in several countries such as Sweden Stockholm, London England and Singapore. It has proven successful in overcoming congestion in the city," Transportation Policy Analyst Azas Tigor Nainggolan told reporters, Wednesday, January 11.
Likewise, ERP in Jakarta, continued Azas, ERP has long been studied by the city of Jakarta to help solve congestion.
"ERP is one way to control the use of private vehicles on certain roads," he explained.
Based on experience, ERP is more effective in solving congestion on certain roads than odd-even (Gage) methods or also 3 in 1.
"In order to be more effective in controlling the use of private vehicles and overcoming congestion in Jakarta, the implementation of ERP must be supported by parking management and other integration of public transportation services," said Azas.
Azas said Jakarta's electronic paid road system (ERP) would begin gradually on certain roads which would be designated as roads with high congestion.
"The tariff system plan or payment that will be implemented should use an adjusted system or follow the low level of demand for use on roads where ERP is applied," he said.
The tariff system or ERP payments in Jakarta will be able to imitate the ERP tariff system in Singapore. "So when the level of road use (demand) is high, the rates will be expensive. Meanwhile, when the use of the road is low, the rate will decrease to low," he explained.
This ERP system is part of the disincentive for private vehicle users to want to move to public transportation. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, in this case the Transportation Service, must realize the initial idea that had been started by the Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, namely building a comfortable and safe integration of public transportation services.
